The data shows that companies are clearly investing in data initiatives at scale and that the challenges they face are operational and organizational.

Success seems to depend less on having the right technology and more on getting clean data and ensuring data work connects to business priorities.

European Companies Are Running Multiple Data Initiatives

The scale of activity is notable: 30% of companies completed more than 10 data initiatives last year, while 20% of professionals are currently managing 5 or more projects simultaneously. 


This represents significant organizational investment in data capabilities across the region.

across Belgium to learn about their real, day-to-day
challenges. This report captures what we found.

The bigger the company, the more likely it has a hybrid data organisation

In the graph below, we see that:

  1. the largest proportion of a mostly centralised data function we see in the second to largest revenue bracket and this is where the most efforts are put to support growth at scale (it's also where we see the lowest proportion of decentralization)


  2. the largest proportion of a mostly decentralised data function we see in the smallest revenue bracket


  3. the trend line there shows that there is increased adoption of hybrid models the bigger a company gets
